She was modest when I brought that up since her role as Valkris, that other Klingon women on both screens wore on the same design element. Even though I pointed out that many women cosplay as Klingons dressed in the same vein, she only credited, modestly mind you, the costume designer.
But what was a challenge for her was the make-up process.
“I mean, to do the prosthetic, that was a really interesting thing because they’d sit you in the chair and they would talk to me and say, “Now, are you sure you can do this?” And I was like, “Well, yeah, why not?” And then I started to realize what they were talking about. And they said, “We’re going to give you a paper and a pad and a pen.” And if you need to say anything, or if you’re afraid, or you can’t do it anymore, just write it. Because they— as they’re putting the latex all over my head and they come down, and now they start taking away my senses.”
