.Supergirl Season 3 saw Rain not reveal his secret thanks to Supergirl, but it still led to a big confrontation at season’s end.

Where is Supergirl at the beginning of the season?

Melissa Benoist: When we start, at least she’s really throwing herself into Supergirl. Obviously the end of season 2 kind of shook things up for Kara and she’s dealing with a lot of uh darker feelings than. We’re used to seeing her deal with. I think she’s got a lot of grief for losing Mon-El, uh, so Supergirl is kind of her main priority and Kat Co is sort of up in the air like for the first time I think she’s questioning Kara Danvers in her life as opposed to Supergirl.

There’s been much speculation about Lena Luther and Supergirl. Some fans wanted them to be a couple.
Melissa Benoist: That’s I think one of the most important relationships in the show. Um, it’s two strong females. They, they, they can relate to each other really well in terms of family. In terms of what they’ve been through and Lena is overcoming a lot of her family history. Uh, time will tell, I think where that goes, and it’s obviously a really precarious balance because the super and a Luther don’t typically like each other, but I believe Lex and Superman were very close friends before. Kind of went south so we’ll see we’ll see if that happens. If Lena ever found out that was, I think it would be a problem.

Any changes to the iconic costume?
Melissa Benoist:  Someone mentioned wearing a uh like a unitar, like a full suit pants. I, I am so comfortable in that suit and it’s so ingrained in who she is to me and I feel like so much of her identity as Supergirl relies on that suit. I don’t want to change it. It, you know what, it’s perfect to me as if.

Here she talked about working with a Laura Zor-El, played by Laura Benanti.
Melissa Benoist: Well, I’ve, I’ve worked with her once, uh so far, and it, it wasn’t, I mean, it was very similar to the way we’ve seen Laura as of now, um, on the show, but it’s gonna, it’s gonna be different. And she’s got a lot more to do.

Besides Supergirl, what other female superhero appeals to you?
Melissa Benoist: I mean, I love Wonder Woman like I think all of us at this table can say, uh, Gal Gadot is amazing, Lynda Carter is amazing. She’s amazing in the comics. Um, I don’t know who else Black Widow is pretty cool and I, I was always a good, a big fan of Scarlet Witch.

Supergirl had a lot on her plate this season.
Melissa Benoist: As as this in a more subtle way this season, she is much more matter of fact and she’s kind of grappling with her identity this whole year is about from what I’ve seen in season 3 and what I’ve heard it’s about identity and knowing who you are and if she wants to decide if she a human or an alien and uh she’s much more businesslike a super supergirl. Not evil, but more adult. I want to explore all the depths of as I can. Because I want to show the complexities as much as I can in her wearing a cape of being a woman and what it takes to balance what it feels like to lose and you know there’s so many complexities to so every every facet of her. It’s a joy.

Kara and Alex in season 3.
Melissa Benoist: Well, that’s what’s so great about sisterhood is that women can simultaneously support each other and disagree and talk about it and and really like they’re both so stubborn these characters so you’ll keep seeing that because Kara and Alex are both so. And bullheaded. So, um, but the love between them is pretty unbreakable.

What did Kara learn working for Cat Grant?
Melissa Benoist: Well, I think everything Cat Grant has ever said to her stays with her. Um, it’s funny that she needs her sometimes to come back and pop in and remind her though, uh, but yeah, I definitely think any advice she’s ever gotten from Pat Grant has shaped who she is up this morning. Yeah And yes, as one entity,
